It was a warm and shining sunset afternoon when I arrived at Jolimont Tourist Centre in Canberra Australia with my friends on 18th November 2015. The first impression of Canberra was why are there so many flies rampaging on your faces. And the sunhine was extremely dazzling, the wind was really heavy. But at that time, I was full of passion to enjoy the future two or more years in Canberra. Cause I needed to apply a language course as a pathway to ANU which was included by 10 language-study weeks, I chose to live in the unilodge that was just 10 minutes walk to ANU College. After the unilodge rent agreement was finished, I took a fresh and clean townhouse from a property agency called Peter Blackshaw, which is quite popular in the whole Aussie mainland. The beautiful townhouse community was located in a suburb called Florey that is named by one of the prime minister in Australian history. In general, the supermarket, restaurant, news agency and pharmacy were only 3 minutes walk from the townhouses. The east side of the townhouses community faced to the second largest lake of Canberra called Lake Ginninderra. Therefore, living there was really convient and comfortable.

Studying overseas is an exciting event for me, but I still have some worries about it. The big problem for me is the language. Although I had been learning English for several years, the problem such as lack of vocabulary is the most serious trouble for me. I learned English for the needs of daily life before, now I found that the English which I had learned did not satisfy the specialised area, I can not even understand the stuff fully which in the language classes; as a result, I would like to learn English for ten months, and then I will study the formal courses. On the one hand, I can improve my English level; on the other hand, I can get used to the daily life in Australia, so that I can waiting for the begin of the form course in a perfect mode. Of course, somestimes I will have some problems in my daily life as well, such as the differences on meals and custom, these aspects can not be changed, so that I should get used to gradually. In addition, that will be the issue of relationships with people, students who come from different countries will have absolutely dfferent opinions and culture, how to get along well with the western people is one of the biggest barriers, thanks to the large number of classmates and friends there, I feel close to the Chinese students and I can practice my oral English with the local Aussie and some of my Indian friends as well. To solve the issue of getting along well with your classmates, friends or even strangers, I think the best way is being polite to them, I believe that they will not feel the distance between the Chinese person who are always keep similing and good-mannered when chatting with each other.

After above two years studying and living in Australia, not only my English was improved dramatically, but my general horizon and academic knowledge were promoted obviously.

My major was master of applied finance, and this major consisted of three semesters, 12 major courses, 72 academic units. The first semester was about the basic knowledge of economics, statistics, accounting and finance. Cause I learnt most of this part in JUFE International college, I did not spend much efforts on these courses. And the second semester was related to the intermediate finance courses such as Applied Corporate Finance, Applied Investments, Topics in International Finance and Applied Derivatives.
As I treated the courses of last semester lightly, I still did not spend enough efforts in the courses of semester two. Finally, I got a “N” level in the course Topics in International Finance, and at that time I was shocked by this headache. In the third semester, I applied an overload course to finish the degree timely, because I did not want to waste another one semester for just one course in ANU. That means I need to register 5 courses and spend more time and effort to successfully award the master degree. Moreover, I got an accounting job in a Canberra company at the beginning of the third semester, and this job required me to attend to work four days per week. Defintely, this situation is extremely stressful for me to balance work and study well especially in the last two or or three weeks of the third semester. I can still clearly remember the whole week of final exams, I reviewed the main parts of each course from 6:00 am to 10:00 am and 6:00 pm to 3:00 am of next day, during the period from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. I did accounting work for that company. Finally, I passed all the five courses and got my master degree timely. Meanwhile, I told myself I say byebye to the campus life eventually and I never go back again.

Australia is an attractive country, and there are lots of fascinating places you can visit. Most people living in Australia are nice and kindful, I can be responsibility that most of the reports from domestic media in China mainland about Aussie such as Chinese exclusion or insult about Chinese are absolutely rare in Australia. For the past 2 years, Besides the knowledge and personal experiences was developed, I also acquired a chance to live in Australia further. Look forward quietly and hope everything will be better and better.
